Dance for PD® was started 18 years ago as a collaboration between Mark Morris Dance Group in New York and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group. It is now taught in over 120 communities worldwide in 23 countries. Dance for PD® classes allow people with Parkinson’s to experience the joys and benefits of dance while creatively addressing symptom-specific concerns related to balance, cognition, motor skill, depression and physical confidence. No dance experience at all is needed and classes are inclusive and adapted for every ability level. No diagnosis is necessary and all are welcome. Classes are FREE!
STG Dance for PD® classes offer a very warm environment and participants have great fun dancing together. Typically, there are fairly equal numbers of men and women in class. All classes are co-taught by two professional teaching artists and are accompanied by live musicians. Classes are held at the Mercer Island Community and Events Center.
