The Mercer Island Arts Council’s film series returns with a new name and a fresh look to celebrate the 15th year of FREE movies on Mercer Island!
Join us for Friday Night Films and discover the “Art of Film” through a dozen movies about visual arts, dance, music, theater, and more. From musicals to documentaries, animated features to biopics, this season will delight art lovers of all ages.
Most screenings start at 7:30 pm at Aljoya, where film historian Lance Rhoades sets the stage with an introduction for each film and then leads a Q&A to share more insights and interesting facts. All films are free and open to the public.

The lives of grieving composer Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe and his two beautiful daughters are forever changed by Marin Marais, a young musician who hopes to learn from the master. Based on the book by Pascal Quignard, this fictional look at the 17th century musicians features viola de gamba performed by Jordi Savall and performances by father-son duo Gérard and Guillaume Depardieu, who both portray Marais.
